Description
The photography exhibition "Judaism Within Time and Space" by Alberto Modiano can be visited at the Museum between 14.03 - 03.04.2022.
The exhibition conveys the practice of Judaism, the world's first monotheistic religion, in today's Turkey, with the customs and traditions of photography.
The exhibition of Modiano, who spent the last 10 years of his 27-year photographic history photographing the religious rituals of the Istanbul Jewish Community, has four main headings: Jewish holidays, religious practices, objects and images, and customs and traditions in the last section.
The photographs in the exhibition were taken in black and white and are integrated with music and prayers according to the subject. Modiano's work "Judaism Within Time and Space" also bears witness to how the Jews living in Istanbul practiced their religious practices. It follows the one-year religious life cycle of Sephardic, Ashkenazi and Italian Jews.
Photography lovers will also have access to the album of the work together with the exhibition.
